Our promise
Explain the change, test the conditions and connect the consequences to people’s lives. We use clear English and concrete examples. We do not imitate a public figure’s voice or invent reporting experience.
Evidence before interpretation
We separate verified events, attributed claims, editorial analysis and unresolved questions. A company announcement establishes what the company said, not that every forecast will come true. Several stories repeating the same press release do not count as independent confirmations.
Numbers, dates and predictions
We identify the period, unit, population and comparison behind important numbers. Event dates, release dates, draft dates and publication dates are distinct. Market observations need a time and time zone. Forecasts require assumptions and a time horizon; we do not invent probabilities.
A clear point, with room for contrary evidence
Our analysis asks about structural change, practical costs and effects on different groups. These questions guide research; they do not determine which facts are accepted. We retain relevant counterevidence and reduce analysis when the evidence is thin. Breaking-news reports can contain only confirmed facts and open questions.
Politics and international affairs
We attribute political claims, examine evidence and distinguish affected groups. We do not infer wrongdoing from an incentive or treat a viral claim as representative public opinion. Conflict reporting requires reliable corroboration and attention to civilian consequences.
AI assistance and accountability
AI tools may assist research, drafting and production. They are not confidential sources or eyewitnesses. Source checking, attribution and approval remain editorial responsibilities.
Corrections and commercial interests
