HubSpot vs Pipedrive for Small Service Businesses
Choose between a broad free starting point and a focused sales pipeline by looking at fit, plan gates, and daily follow-up work.
Choose HubSpot when a free starting point and broader customer platform matter most. Choose Pipedrive when a focused visual sales pipeline and structured follow-up activities matter most. For this lead-follow-up funnel, Pipedrive is the implementation choice—but hands-on parity testing is still pending.

Best for—and not for
HubSpot is best for
- A solo user or two-person team that needs a no-cost CRM starting point.
- A business expecting to connect marketing, sales, and service tools over time.
Not ideal when: the breadth of the platform creates more configuration than the sales process needs, or the desired automation requires a paid upgrade.
Pipedrive is best for
- A service business that thinks in deals, stages, and next activities.
- A team willing to pay for a focused sales workflow after a trial.
Not ideal when: the hard requirement is a permanent free CRM or a broad all-in-one platform.
Pricing and plan gates
Pipedrive’s official pricing page, checked August 12, 2026, showed annual-billing prices of $14 Lite, $39 Growth, $59 Premium, and $79 Ultimate per seat/month. Growth includes automations and nurturing sequences in the current feature presentation. HubSpot lists Free CRM at $0 for up to two users and 1,000 contacts. These figures can change and will be checked again before publication.
Compare the lowest plan that performs the required workflow. A cheap plan that cannot create the needed follow-up behavior is not the cheaper solution.
Our decision for this funnel
Pipedrive is the clearer implementation target for the first “new lead to booked call” workflow because its pipeline-and-activity model maps directly to the process. HubSpot remains the Best Budget route. This is a research-based editorial decision, not a hands-on verdict.
